Congrats to all the Oklahoma Gazette Woody Award winners! Oklahoma City has a pretty amazing local music scene and it’s always nice to see our talented musicians get recognized.

We’re especially proud to see former Chevy Bricktown Showcase artist Camille Harp win the Woody for Best in Country! And to see a few of next season’s artists on the list:

Jabee, Best in Rap and Hip-Hop
Ryan Lawson, Best Emerging Act
Kite Flying Robot, Best in Electronic
Brianna Gaither, Best in Pop

The new showcase episodes will start airing on News 9 in May, so stay tuned!

Oh, and we have to do a little bragging on Bricktown’s own ACM@UCO Performance Lab—which won the Woody for Best Live Music Venue!

Great news for all you Oklahoma City history lovers — Retro Metro OKC just added a Bricktown Collection to their website!

The photos were collected by Steve Lackmeyer, a reporter with The Oklahoman and co-author of “OKC Second Time Around.” The collection includes materials provided by Horton’s Warehouse Development Co., the Brewer and McLain families, the Oklahoma Historical Society, the City of Oklahoma City and various contractors, architects, businesses and merchants.

Here are just a few of the Bricktown Collection photos. Enjoy!

One of our favorite local holiday gifts is now available. The annual Children’s Miracle Network Calendar. And this year, we love it even more because all the adorable CMN kids posed in Bricktown for their photo shoots!

The calendars are $5 each — all of which goes to fund the Children’s Hospital Foundation in Oklahoma. Pick yours up today at Nonna’s and other participating Bricktown businesses!

Here are some photos from the launch party today at Nonna’s in Bricktown.

The ACM@UCO is having its student orientation this weekend, and with the number of students doubling in just one year (approximately 400 total now) it’s easy to tell these students are excited. Classes don’t officially start until August 23rd, but I stopped by orientation to talk to a few students, both new and returning, to see what they’re looking forward to this school year.

Special thank you to Jeff Hickman, Alysse Foster, Austin Valdez and Paul Travis for speaking with me today.
