In December 1953, KWTV first broadcast its signal to the people of Oklahoma. That day marked the beginning of KWTV 9's ongoing service to the community and leadership in technology. Oklahoman and KWTV founder John T. Griffin, established a commitment to excellence and to the people of Oklahoma that continues today with the expansion into digital television, computer network communications and the purchase of KOTV Channel 6 in Tulsa in October 2000. His mantle of leadership is now carried by his son, David F. Griffin, President of Griffin Communications.
