Ryan Lawson
Ryan Lawson is a singer-songwriter from Choctaw, Oklahoma. The Oklahoma Gazette described Lawson as, “…one of the best and brightest Oklahoma musicians surging at the moment.” Winner of the Oklahoma Gazette’s 2011 Woody Guthrie Award for “best up and coming act,” Ryan has performed extensively throughout Norman and Oklahoma City. He has also performed at the 2011 SXSW Independent Music Festival in Austin, the Oklahoma Film and Music Office’s Buffalo Lounge, the 2011 Paseo Art’s Festival, Norman Music Festival, Dustbowl Art’s Festival, multiple Norman 2nd Friday Art Walks, and multiple Live! At the Plaza events.
Coined as the “devolution of country music” by Ferris O’Brien, (local music supporter and owner of The Spy Radio), Ryan has worked on a number of different video-music projects including the Chevy Bricktown Showcase, The Vdub Sessions , Extended Play and is featured regularly on The Oklahoma Rock Show.
Ryan released his first album, This Old Knife, in 2010, and his first EP, It’s Broken, in 2011. He is currently working on his second album release, Hack and Saw Nation, with Norman producer and owner of O’Fishil Records, Brad Fielder.
