Daniel Walcher
Daniel Walcher is a folk rock singer/songwriter from Oklahoma City. He is also a community minded philanthropist who has dedicated himself to improving the lives of at risk youth. Following a tumultuous early childhood spent in the revolving door of foster homes, Walcher discovered songwriting as an outlet for dealing with his painful past. He became friends with Ft. Worth-based producer Will Hunt, forming a collaboration that resulted in his first full-length album, Life Spliced Together (2003). He started performing regularly in Oklahoma City, and was soon invited to play indie rock festivals like Tulsa’s Dfest, and the Norman Music Festival.
His long-awaited follow-up album, The Black and White of Things, was released in2009, displaying a new depth of songwriting and deviating from his acoustic-only roots. In 2009 and 2010, he was chosen by the Oklahoma Film & Music Office to represent the state at the SXSW Music Festival in Austin, Texas as a featured artist for their annual showcase. Walcher’s latest self-titled album, Daniel Walcher, is his third independent release and the most progressive work of his seven years as a recording artist.
